"A little bit country and a little bit rock and roll" isn't a phrase reserved for clean-cut Mormon pop stars. It could actually describe concerts coming to Oklahoma City's BOK Center in April. Expect things to get a little wild this spring when Bon Jovi and Dashboard Confessional rock the BOK April 8. Later in the month, on April 13, Tim McGraw and red-hot country music trio Lady Antebellum will get you kicking up your boots to some swinging tunes. All in all, April will be a pretty good month for music fans looking to relax with their friends.

First things first: It's admittedly a little strange to pair the hair-rock tunes of Bon Jovi with the emo crowd (represented by Dashboard Confessional). It's not clear how the two outfits linked up, but it should be a pretty good show, in any case. Bon Jovi is the more mainstream of the two acts, having reached superstar status way back in the '80s, when the band just started out. They had plenty of hits littering the Billboard charts, but became especially well known for one hit song in particular: "Livin' on a Prayer," which you know fans will be eager to hear when they show up at the BOK Center.

It's no big surprise to most music fans that today the selling of cassette tapes is almost a vanished market.  From the fact that most vehicles now come equipped with CD stereos to the inevitable loss of sound quality that accompanies a cassette recording, there's just no reason to look back to that ancient entertainment technology.  While the CD is still widely used, its popularity is also dropping.  Today the world is all about digital music, obtained through the internet.  Perhaps the day when vehicles come standard equipped with a USB port stereo is in the not so distant future.  Of course, this would assume that the vast majority of people not only have access to downloading music, but high speed internet.  It might be easy to assume this because most people do.  Most music lovers own at least an iPod or some sort of MP3 device, and store all their music in one convenient place.  The difference, however, is that while a CD is available in any variety store across America, high speed internet service can be a little bit more difficult to come by.

In many places in the US, and all around the world there is a lack of connectivity to terrestrial broadband internet.  This means no high speed downloads, and a very limited amount of access to digital music sources.  When it can take days to download the equivalent of just one CDs worth of songs, the reward is just not quite worth the hassle.  Instead of sitting around waiting for DSL or cable service to come to these areas, which it is highly unlikely to do due to demographical and geographical barriers, many such internet customers just deal with dial-up.  As most of us remember all too well, dial-up internet was one technology that most of us were glad to get rid of for good.
