Maybe Hollywood is running out of original ideas, or maybe the world is getting more cynical, but either way, it has been a while since a truly scary and bone chilling horror movie came along.

Still, this is just the opinion of one single person, and there are many great horror movies released in 2010 that do have the ability to spook one out. So get your friends together, grab one of these movies from your closest DVD store, lock the door and windows, and enjoy the thrill of some of the top scariest movies of this year. Best Horror Movies 2010

Case 39
This movie starring Rene Zellwegger has been ready for the last 4 years, and it has just released this past week. If this can be one of the top scary movies of 2010 seems doubtful, but it remains to be seen. The story of a haunted 10 year old child who is not as innocent as she seems is something that has been seen many times before.

Daybreakers
This unoriginal movie stars Ethan Hawke as a vampire in a futuristic world where a plague has caused everyone to turn into vampires. These creatures farm human beings for food, and the lead actor plays the role of a sympathetic vampire.

The Wolfman
This movie follows Benicio Del Toro as he tries to solve the mystery of the legendary werewolf in London in 1884. This movie is a remake of the original movie which was released in 1941.

The Crazies
Here's another remake of a 1973 film, and the movie is about a friendly town whose water supply gets infected with a virus. This turns the residents of the town into cruel killers, and honestly, this is a story that we've all seen before. This is certainly not one of the top horror movies 2010.

The Human Centipede: The First Sequence
If you're looking for something original, here is a movie that you must watch. This is not one of the mainstream horror movies, and its plot may sound deviously twisted to many people (too twisted to mention here). But the movie reviews for this flick say that this could be one of the top horror movies of all time

A Nightmare on Elm Street
This movie provides some more proof that Hollywood is running out of ideas, as it is again a remake of the cult favorite movie of the same name released in 1984. A group of teenagers being haunted by the memorial Freddy Krueger in their dreams is definitely worth another watch, and it could be one of the top scary movies of 2010.

All of these scary movies certainly have something unique to offer, and they are all spooky in their own right. But for a scary movie to be truly memorable, there is an extra element that is required to make it one of the best horror movies of all time.
