Don’t be surprised with the first myth I’m about to share. Some people actually think that the LCD is a liquid. No, the LCD is not a liquid. The term liquid in LCD refers to the quality of the crystal and has nothing to do with its state. It is helpful to know that this crystal has a predictable way of reacting to electric currents and it is because of this characteristic that they are used to form the pictures on the TV screen.

The second myth is that some people will think that the LCD TV that they have bought will last them forever. However, if you think about it, nothing we buy can last forever. This is basically a misconception. When buying a LCD TV, you need to consider things like the average display hours. This is generally in the range of 60,000 to 80,000 hours for a typical LCD TV. Based on this average hours, your LCD should last more than seven years if you are using it all day long constantly. However, if you are viewing your TV for only up to eight hours a day, do not be surprised that it can last for twenty years or more.

Another myth about LCD TV is that the display, just like a tube TV, can suffer a burn-in. This is not true at all. LCD screens work from a blocking light which is not possible to burn the screen at all. Because of this, you don’t need to be anxious about any burn-in on your TV screen. You can expect to be able to keep your TV display screen in the same condition when you first purchased it for many years without the need to worry about any burn-in effects.

Another common mistake is that people think that just because you have an LCD TV you cannot watch it from the side. This was once an issue, but now you can use up to a 160-degree angle and still be able to enjoy the visuals of the program. You will find that there are some LCD TVs that are not as good as others and you will have trouble seeing from the side. However, if you purchase a good brand name, you will be able to avoid this from happening.

When buying a LCD TV set, you need to consider many things. You need to look at all the advantages and disadvantages before you come to a decision. Be aware of some of the common LCD TV myths so that your consideration will not be distorted by misconceptions but is guided by facts and the right knowledge.
